Katniss Everdeen
Katniss Everdeen, hero of the Hunger Games trilogy, is the protagonist of the book. Katniss is 17 years old, a talented hunter and reluctant symbol of the revolution between the Districts and the Capitol. The girl is brave but often overly impulsive, which almost always gets her into trouble. Katniss is wounded several times, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Katniss is devastated over the loss of her love, Peeta. Peeta has been captured and tortured by the Capitol. When Peeta is returned, he has been "hijacked," so instead of loving Katniss, he wants to kill her. Meanwhile, Katniss relies on her best friend, Gale. Although Katniss loves Peeta, there are feelings for Gale as well. This is just one of the problems Katniss faces when she is not trying to save all of Panem from the evil President Snow.
