Summary

In Chapter 41, Benjamin breaks into Liu’s house. When he walks upstairs, he smells gunpowder, a smell that brings back memories of his childhood. He had come home early to find his mother dead of a gunshot wound. He father is taking something out of the bathroom in a garbage bag. He takes Benjamin, who has come into the room, to his bedroom and locks him up until he can stage the murder to look like a suicide by putting the gun in Ben’s mother’s hand. He finds Liu with half his head blown off. Ben knows there will be a faked suicide note somewhere.

In Chapter 42, Benjamin pokes around Liu’s room, finding the suicide note typed on Liu’s laptop computer. Before leaving, he takes the computer with him.
