Max Starling is the twelve-year-old son and only child of William and Mary Starling. He hasn’t any friends his age because he has spent most of his young years in the company of adults. His parents own and operate a theatrical company. Max has worked at the theater since he was eight. He helps the actors with their lines and assists with the props and costumes.
