Viola Turner

Viola Turner is a sixty-five-year-old black woman who returns to her hometown of Natchez to die. She is suffering lung cancer and has an agreement with Tom Cage, her former boss and lover, that he will kill her with an overdose of pain medication before she gets to the point she is unable to take care of herself.

The night of Viola’s death is in question because it is believed by Lincoln that it was Tom who injected his mother with a lethal dose of adrenaline.
