Summary
Juan Pablo meets his Mil Jesuses contact in Bogota, a gluttonous lawyer from Norte de Santander, to find out more about the kidnapping, Valencia's safety in the area, and Jefferson's possible involvement. The lawyer assures Juan Pablo that as a business man who has confessed his crimes and been punished for them, Jefferson's group has no need for a civilian hostage. The lawyer tells Juan Pablo about the coca-growers union in the North filled with ex-ELN guerrilla, and how the countryside is aggrieved because of the low coca prices. As soon as Juan Pablo gets back to the capitol, there is a request from de Salva to meet in her office. She has news that the American government wants to upgrade the Mil Jesuses ranking as an organized armed group, which would clear the administrative path should the Colombian military decide...
