Chapter 9-13 Summary
In chapter nine, Julia returns home and discusses the events at the pastor's office with Lillian. Deciding that the day has been too much for her, Julia decides to go take a nap. After finding Little Lloyd sleeping in front of Deputy Bates's door, Julia tries to sleep herself, but can't and decides to go for a drive. On the road Julia thinks over recent events, driving aimlessly. Julia finds herself being tailgated by a big black pickup truck. A bit concerned, Julia heads back toward her home and the truck drives off in a different direction.
At home, Julia talks to Deputy Bates about Hazel Puckett. Though there are many Puckett's in the area that have been in trouble, Hazel has no record. Bates suggests that Julia speak to her lawyer about what property Wesley Lloyd owned and they might...
