Summary

At the start of "Copper Pennies," Jane drives back to the farm the next day after Sylvester's visit to down. Dr. Thompson and Grace are waiting for her, and inform her that Sylvester had died in his sleep next to the fire overnight. Later that afternoon, Jane's uncle, Virgil McClure (who had previously appeared in the chapter "Death Insurance") visits the house and informs Jane that Sylvester had increased his life insurance plan, and that she was to be the primary beneficiary. At Sylvester's funeral, Elijah Key waits to talk to Jane, and reveals that, even though he is married with two sons, he still wanted to come by the funeral to see Jane one more time.
