Summary

V – When Mo appears in court (where the judge’s wife is also present and watching closely), the priest is the only witness. He accuses Mo of making up the story about him drinking and again accuses him of stealing – specifically, of taking some gold statuettes from the priest’s home. As narration comments that Mo loved the priest but thought that it was wrong of him to not confess, Mo’s mother also testifies, ranting about the corrupt nature of the church and those who attend it. Mo, in his own defense, asks that the judge ask if the priest did, in fact, drink at the times Mo mentioned. The priest admits that he did, but this, the prosecutors say, only proves that Mo was where the priest said he was to take...
