Chapters 34-36 Summary

In chapter 34, Mail learned about the blockades that were looking for him on all the major highways out of the city, so he took the back roads, arriving at his house at the same time as Lucas and his team. Mail rushes into the house and down into the cellar, opening the door to the room where Andi and Grace are. Andi and Grace surprise Mail by immediately attacking him. Andi stabs Mail in the chest with the springs from the mattress and Grace stabs him in the eye. Grace runs up the stairs and runs into Lucas and Haywood. Lucas falls, giving Mail the time he needs to slip out a coal chute. Sherrill is waiting outside. When Mail confronts Sherrill, he fires his shotgun, hitting her in the leg.
