The rooftops symbolize protection. Throughout the story Miles is standing on rooftops looking out over his city. Seeing everything in the city allows him to understand what he is protecting and who he is protecting. Everything he does is to keep the City and its people safe. The visualization of this is not only an iconic part of the Spider-man character but an important focus on what matters most to Miles.
Terrigen crystals
The Terrigen crystals are not only a physical means to power but also a symbolic one. The crystals grant Vex and Trinity their superpowers but give Mr. Snow so much more. He wants to use the crystals to give himself more of everything. More money, more control, and more weapons.
