Summary

Returning back to his dorm, Miles tries to get some sleep but is awoken right away by his alarm and roommate Ganke shouting about his nightmare. In class Miles is unable to stay awake. Ganke throws paper at him, trying to wake him before the teacher notices. Unfortunately his teacher notices and gives him detention for sleeping during class.

During lunch, Miles eats with Ganke and Kyle as they inspect the mysterious rock. Kyle figures out it belongs to Serval Industries, the place her father works. Her father has a similar rock and would carry it everywhere with him. Kyle questions how they found this rock and why they are so interested in it. Miles tells her “I found it on the street. And two, I’ve got a thing for rocks” (43). Kyle takes him for his word.
