Summary

This section begins with Chapter 11, "Interrogations." Carlisle arranged for the man who nearly assaulted Bella to be arrested. Satisfied that he is no longer a threat, Edward offers to drive Bella to school and continues to probe her for information. He is intrigued as she is the only human whose mind he cannot read. Surprised to see Edward and Bella arriving to school together, Jessica plots to interrogate Bella about her connection with Edward. Bella and Edward discuss this, each probing the other for information. Edward tunes into Jessica's thoughts in an effort to learn more about Bella's feelings but Bella is evasive. She confesses that Edward has not kissed her, and notes that he is cryptic about his feelings towards her. Edward is shocked to learn that Bella feels as though she likes him more than he likes her.
