Summary

On March 8, de Lyon and Ferrar share a long, fancy dinner at a restaurant with the Estonian General Zoltau. They bribe Zoltau, who is happy to comply, to lend his signature to a necessary form for international weapons deals called an end-user certificate. At Ferrar's law office, the considerable dispute between his Hungarian clients continues. On that Sunday, as Ferrar is again visiting his family, his mother reports that her several letters to Spanish nobility -- inspired by her own belief in her family's noble bloodline -- have finally been answered. It turns out that the Marquesa Maria Cristina needs Ferrar's legal counsel.

On March 14, Ferrar meets with de Lyon, and they plan a trip to Danzig (a.k.a. Gdansk), Poland, to personally see through the freight cars of weapons they have purchased from Szarny. The next day, the Marquesa comes to...
