Summary
In Chapter 15, when Manfred gets up, the residents of Midnight preoccupy his thoughts. Olivia is a mystery to him and the thought of her being with Lem is not a pleasant one. Then he starts thinking of Creek’s and Connor’s reaction to the discovery of Aubrey’s body. Creek was shocked while Connor was excited. With the exception of Bobo and Creek, none of the other residents had seemed sad that Aubrey was dead. Thoughts of Creek send Manfred to the gas where he meets Shawn. Creek is not there, but Manfred cannot ask where she is. He asks how the children are and can sense that Shawn is extremely tense.
