Chapters 12-13 Summary
In chapter twelve, Garrett goes home, his thoughts again going to Catherine. Garrett recalls the day his wife told him she was pregnant, a day filled with happiness. However, that day would forever be overshadowed by her death a short time later. Garrett's father comes over to find out what is going on and he tries to talk Garrett through his anger at Theresa. When Garrett goes into the kitchen, a knock on the door draws Jeb away. Jeb meets Theresa for the first time and leaves her to talk things out with Garrett. Garrett and Theresa make love. Afterward, Garrett falls asleep and wakes to find Theresa in the kitchen. Theresa explains about the letters and her decision to meet him. Then Theresa tells Garrett that she does not believe he is over his wife, nor will he ever be...
