Summary

In Chapter 7, Roli is the first to mention that Lolo has a black eye. Merci knows it is from the bike wreck, but Abuela thinks he hit himself in the face with a cabinet door. Merci is upset at the lie. She carefully inspects the bread for any sign of dirt after being dropped on the street, but she finds none. That afternoon, Simon, the friend and employee of Enrique, calls with news they can play soccer against Manny Cruz's team. They play hard on the soccer field and Manny once poached some of Enrique's workers.
