Summary
In Chapter 5, when Noria greeted Sanja’s mother Kira and sister Minja at Sanja’s house the following day, she noticed a “momentary stiffness on Kira’s face” (51). Inside, Sanja showed Noria that she had discovered how to play the tapes they had found by connecting them to the speakers. After fiddling with the mechanisms, the friends were able to listen to clips of a recording. On the recording a “female voice spoke” about the past-world (57). The friends discovered she was speaking from the Twilight Century about the mysterious Jansson expedition (58). Because the tape ended abruptly, Noria was desperate to recall the disc’s origins (58). She believed there were more discs in the same location. Sanja was annoyed by her curiosity, accusing her of having nothing else to worry about.
