Summary
Chapter 1, continued. As the trainer and Markus hurry to put together some kind of performance plan for Tosca, they do some research at the library, but nothing seems quite right for what Tosca can do, or what they want to do with her. Meanwhile, the trainer continues her sessions with Tosca, starting to find herself able to understand her, thinking about her childhood interactions with animals, her fear of insects, her breaking down and sobbing in gratitude for the connection with Tosca, and then waking up sobbing next to her husband – the narrative has seamlessly blended the trainer’s waking reality with her dreams.
