Chapter 3 Summary

Felix is imprisoned in the dark. He can feel the broken Virtu, and its pain drives him mad. Meanwhile, Mildmay goes to visit his close friend Cardenio. They were kept thieves together. Cardenio is a shy and good man. He has recently become a journeyman for the cade-skiffs. Cardenio has heard about Mildmay and Ginevra and chides Mildmay about it. Mildmay has bought Cardenio a gift to celebrate Cardenio's rise to journeyman. Mildmay asks Cardenio what he knows about Brinvillier Strych. Strych was an evil wizard, supposedly buried in Boneprince. Mildmay thinks that Vey Coruscant was trying to raise Strych from the dead. Cardenio knows that some black magic happened in the Boneprince. Everyone knows something bad happened there, but Cardenio doesn't have any information for Mildmay. Mildmay leaves Cardenio and meets Ginevra in a bar. Ginevra is there with her friend Estella...
