Chapters 22 and 23 Summary

Louisa gets to the hospital as soon as she hears. Will looks gray. She offers to get Camilla a drink, and later, after the consultant had come and gone, she offers to stay while Camilla goes home to change and freshen up. Grateful, she leaves and Louisa sits with Will, holding his hand quietly. He wakes just after four. Louisa is called in by Camilla who tells her Will is asking for her. She talks to him for a while, and he reluctantly admits he won't be bungee jumping with her any time soon. The words are like a fist in her stomach. She goes back to Granta House, cleans up and changes the bedding, and packs a bag for Will. Then she sits down to cancel the trip she'd planned. Nathan arrives, and they talk about Will's plans to go...
