Chapters 11 and 12 Summary
As spring approaches, the town once again becomes a tourist destination. When she sees Will, she announces that they are taking Nathan to the races, leaving him no choice in the matter. She adds that when her horse 'Man Oh Man' comes in, she'll buy them lunch. The outing is a disaster, beginning with the fact that they parked on wet grass which sunk inches as soon as he wheeled onto it, and continuing on to the restaurant which they hadn't paid enough of an entrance fee to sit in. Man Oh Man comes in sixth and it rains, making the trip back to the vehicle a nightmare. Lou ends up convincing a group of drunk young veterans to help hoist him and his chair back in. It is only as they are leaving that Louisa notices the paved, disabled parking...
