A main goal of this book is to educate the reader about the depth and prevalence of white supremacy in the modern world, as the continued presence of white supremacy depends in part upon the ignorance of the people who uphold it. Many people with white privilege seem to think that racism and white supremacy are negligible in the modern world. However, as Saad writes, “White supremacy is far from fringe. In white-centered societies and communities, it is the dominant paradigm that forms the foundation from which norms, rules, and laws are created” (13).
