The book begins with a ‘Foreword’ section written by American academic Robin DiAngelo. In this section, DiAngelo warns white readers against “Rushing ahead to solutions” (2) when trying to address problems of racism in society. It is important for white people to first do deep, self-reflective work regarding their own complicity in maintaining societal structures of white supremacy. There are countless resources on how to address problems of racism, but without this self-reflective work, it will be impossible to remain open to those resources. The book’s author, Layla F.
