Chapter 18 Summary

Pitt lies waiting for the report of Darius' gun, but the sound he hears is not that of a Luger but a big forty-five Colt automatic. Giordino appears suddenly, blowing the Luger out of Darius's hand and then turning the Colt onto von Till by holding the gun next to his ear. Giordino then tells the five armed guards to drop their weapons or else he will kill von Till and instructs them to look down the tunnel where an elite guard of six men had their weapons trained on von Till's guards. Colonel Zeno is up on the I-Boat's conning tower and with a quick finger feather of the trigger shoots one guard who was unwilling to obey. The rest of von Till's men give up immediately.
