Chapter 6 Summary

Facing von Till for the first time, Pitt is reminded of the typical villain of late night television, with the unsmiling features of the typical German face—unshaven head, shifty eyes and absent neck. The huge white dog at von Till's side is daunting as well. Von Till welcomes Pitt and is surprised when Pitt introduces himself as Major Dirk Pitt. Pitt apologizes for his American humor and hopes that his deception has caused von Till no inconvenience. Von Till claims no inconvenience, but some concern. The two men chat about the history of the villa as they wait for Teri to finish dressing for dinner.
