Lori Gottlieb
Lori Gottlieb is the author of the book and the central protagonist of the story. She is a psychotherapist based in Los Angeles. She has her own private practice, in addition to writing journalism articles and nonfiction books. Gottlieb originally wanted to write for Hollywood and worked for TV shows like ER and Friends. It was while working for ER that she discovered her fascination with the medical scene. She quit her job as an executive producer at NBC to go to medical school.
