Summary
In Chapter 40, “Fathers,” Lori talks about her father in her session with Wendell. She confesses that she cannot picture a world without him. Lori recounts what happened this weekend after her son’s basketball game. Her father came over and shared with her how proud of her he was. He just wanted to make sure she knew. Lori tells Wendell how glad she is to have this time with him. Wendell nods and Lori suddenly feels uneasy. She remembers from her Google stalking that Wendell’s father had passed away ten years ago very unexpectedly. She wonders if listening to her talk about her father might be painful for him.
