Summary
Part Two opens with Chapter 18, "Fridays at Four." The section begins with Lori in a meeting with her consultation group. The group consists of four other therapists. They meet up every week and give each other advice and help examine themselves in relation to their patients. Lori brings up a difficult patient, Becca, she has been struggling with for a year now. She has tried everything she has learned but Becca just does not seem open to change right now. As Lori puts it, she is "stuck in a historical argument," one that predates therapy (122). Lori is concerned about "breaking up" with her. She has never broken up with a patient before. She does not want to leave Becca feeling "emotionally stranded."
