Summary
In Chapter 13, "How Kids Deal with Grief," Lori tells her eight-year-old son, Zach, that she and Boyfriend have broken up. Zach is deeply hurt. Lori explains to him that some compromises don't work out. Sometimes in relationships, people just want different things. Zach is quiet as he takes this in and learns he will not see Boyfriend anymore. Lori realizes this will be very hard for him. It is a big change. Zach is going to feel sad. She will need to support him and let him adjust. Zach brings out his Goblet board game that he used to play with Boyfriend to give to Goodwill. He loves his mom, and can tell she has been hurt.
