Summary
In Chapter 4, "The Smart One or the Hot One," the author shares with the reader how she always been drawn to storytelling. She recounts how her first job after college was in the entertainment business or simply, Hollywood. She worked at a large talent agency. Her first day was a trial. She overheard her boss asking his mentor whether he should hire the "smart" one or the "hot" one. An hour later, she got the job. She was hurt to be the "smart" one, even though she got the job. She did not think she did anything particularly smart. This tale sets the tone of Gottlieb's experience in the television industry--strange, surreal, oftentimes cold and oddly impersonal.
