Max

The main character in Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson is Maximum Ride, also known as Max. Max is a fourteen year old girl who has escaped from a secret scientific facility known as the School. Although Max is only fourteen, she is more or less the leader of the group of refugees and the authority figure over her adopted family, which includes Fang, Iggy, Gazzy, Nudge, and Angel. Only Gazzy and Angel are related by blood but Max considers them all to be her family.

Max was a test tube baby, or so it is assumed. Max is 98% human and 2% raptor. Max, like the others, has large wings and can fly. She also has the vision of a raptor, bones of a bird, and tremendous speed and strength.
