Summary
Matigari goes to see the priest. Here, Matigari retells to the priest the story of the virgin who obeys her heavenly father only to watch her earthly father killed. The priest recommends that the girl come back to the Church and ask God for forgiveness. Matigari pushes back against this advice, suggesting that the girl has not really committed a crime. He tells the priest a riddle about He-Who-Sows and He-Who-Reaps-Where-He-Never-Sowed, singing a song about the greediness and laciviousness of He-Who-Reaps. The Priest insists that His Excellency Ole Excellence is a “very enlightened” (83) man and recommends that Matigari go speak with the Minister of Truth and Justice, who has just arrived at the factory to speak.
