Blix Marlene Holliday
Blix Marlene Holliday is one of the narrators and a character in this novel. She is an 85-year-old woman who is dying of cancer. Although her doctor gave her a treatment plan, Blix does not want doctors or traditional medicine. She believes if her tumor, which she has named Cassandra, kills her then it was meant for her to die in that manner. She does try to heal herself using holistic and traditional methods.
Blix is Noah’s great-aunt. She is an outcast from that wealthy Southern family because she took her inheritance and moved to Brooklyn. Noah told Marnie that Blix moved because she was angry when her father did not leave the ancestral house to her. Blix later tells Marnie that she was upset because the house was not left to her but she did not show her anger or decide to move away...
