Summary
In Chapter 13, narrated by Blix, Blix wakes the morning of the wake to see the angel of death hovering in the corner. Believing the angel is there for her, Blix tells him that she is ready to die. Later that day, Lola tells Blix that she is not about to die, that she has seen people who are dying and they are not acting like Blix. When Patrick calls Blix to tell her that he cannot come to the wake because he is feeling too ugly, Blix goes down to see him. She explains to the reader that he has burns and a jaw disfigurement from a gas leak explosion but has a light in his eyes that makes him beautiful.
