Summary
In Chapter 6, narrated by Marnie, Marnie texts her sister that everything is good on the honeymoon with Noah. In reality, she knows he is going to break up with her. During a hike, Noah finally admits that he does not want any of the regularities that come along with marriage. He also admits that right before the wedding, he signed up for a fellowship to go to Africa with Whipple and did not tell her. He believes he will be unhappy being married and does not want to live that way. He waves farewell as he walks away from her down the trail. Even as Marnie feels as if she wants to jump off a cliff into the ocean, she hears Blix’s voice telling her that she has a big life ahead of her and that she is going to be okay...
