Chapter Twenty-four Summary
In Chapter Twenty-four Heath drives Annabelle's new car to the campground. It is night when he arrives and he knows he is too tired after his ten hour trip to talk to Annabelle. He sleeps in the car when he has parked so it blocks Annabelle in. The next morning Heath follows Annabelle out to the dock. He tells her he loves her. She doesn't believe him. She thinks he just has to win and she knows that she can't accept Heath's left overs. She won't be his compromise and second best. She leaves him on the dock, hurting and broken.
She goes back to her cabin and packs. She finds the car blocking her in and returns to the cabin. As she sits down and puts her head in her hands, she hears car tires. Portia with her blue face...
