Chapter Twenty-two Summary
Heath followed Annabelle out of the dining room at the beginning of Chapter Twenty-two. Annabelle stands with her back to him at first. Heath tries to make her believe that he had decided to marry her four days before. He has the receipt for the ring he had chosen, which he would fax her. When she tells him that she didn't hear about Love, Heath starts to catalogue the things he loves about her. She points out that Heath had seen her with the men the other night and decided to compromise. He had set a goal for himself and he wanted to be married before his thirty-fifth birthday. She wouldn't be a compromise. Heath still couldn't say he loved her. She went home, packed, and got out of town before her family could descend on her.
