Summary
New York – As Cat waits for Sal to arrive for their conversation, she struggles against her increasingly desperate desire for a drink, and notices the girl from the library being led out by the police. A few moments later, Sal arrives, looking older than Cat expected and also looking like Marlena, her features not really fitting onto his face. As they talk, Cat repeatedly orders water even though Sal is drinking beer, fighting the still-increasing urge to drink. Conversation reveals that Sal is married, and has been for only a few months; that his wife has urged him to find some kind of connection with his past, other than his dysfunctional family; and that he tracked Cat down because he remembered her as being nice.
