Chapters 25-29 Summary

Chapter 25:

Zoey is distracted in class. Elliott keeps coughing, and it seems to be getting worse. Soon, Elliott coughs up blood. Blood begins to flow out of his eyes. The teacher asks someone to fetch Dragon, Elliott's mentor, and Neferet. The teachers come running. One has a vial of milky white liquid. Neferet attempts to soothe Elliott. A student explains to Zoey that Elliott is dying. The white liquid will help to take away the pain. Neferet will stay with Elliott until the end. Zoey still has a hard time accepting that nothing can be done once someone's body rejects the Change. Everyone in the room becomes solemn. Although death is not uncommon, there have been two deaths in two days and it is hard to take.

Zoey decides that she will go through with the Samhain ritual.
