Part One: Chapter Eight, Eyes Right! Summary and Analysis
This chapter is about Mrs. S. Mrs. S. is a woman in her sixties who suffers a massive stroke that affects the right side of her brain. As a result of the stroke Mrs. S. is unable to recognize objects placed to her left. She does not see food on the left side of her tray; she does not put lipstick on the left side of her mouth. In an attempt to remedy this problem Mrs. S. is provided with a rotating wheelchair that she can wheel around to find things on her left. This "fix" increases the amount of food that she eats but does not help her make-up problem. The introduction of a video system only upsets Mrs. S. because to her there is nothing on the left side...
