Summary
In Chapter 10, sisters Rita and Annette agreed to meet with Dosa at Steere House to talk about Oscar. Both their mother and father suffered with dementia. Rita said that coming to terms with the fact that the parent she knew was never coming back was the hardest part of the disease. She explained that she and Annette relied on misdirection and diversion to help them cope. She gave an example of how her father called in the middle of the night to say there was a strange woman in his bed. Because she could not convince him that woman was his wife, Rita distracted him by changing the subject. After the distraction, he calmed down and went back to sleep.
