Summary
Verna calls a woman named Barbara to help Jolly re-enroll in school. Barbara is pleased that Jolly is taking self-esteem classes and she gets rewards for going regularly. She begins receiving workplace training to learn how to get an office job and schedule her life more successfully.
In Chapter 41, Jolly is struggling emotionally, but she tells Verna that she does not think she is old enough to understand how she feels. Dolly tries to explain to Verna what she is thinking about, but she tells Verna that nobody understands her.
In Chapter 42, Jolly goes back to school. Jeremy and Jilly have daycare in the same building where she takes her classes, and Verna begins to have more time for school herself.
