Summary
Jolly is fired from her job for speaking out against her boss. She thinks about how she will get justice.
In Chapter 24, Verna continues working for Jolly and helping her take care of the kids. Jolly asks Verna how much money she has made watching her kids, but Verna tells her it is not enough to help.
In Chapter 25, Verna thinks about helping Jolly financially, but she is unsure if she wants to spend the money she has been saving for college. Verna begins to think seriously about her future.
In Chapter 26, Verna tells Jolly that she should go back to school so that she can make more money for her children. When Verna reveals that this advice comes from her mother, Jolly grows angry.
