Summary
As Chapter 31 opens, Daisy is working full time at the Golden Palace, leaving more room for everyone else to spend time with Opa and for Maizy to spend time with Logan. Maizy has started making custom fortunes for the fortune cookies using her mom’s old typewriter; these are often custom-made for particular customers. A teenager named Erik Fisk comes in with a date. Fisk is the most popular kid in school. Erik is rude to Maizy as she serves him and refers to Chinese people as “these people.” Opa has told Maizy that she has to be careful about the loudest of people because they are often making up for weak cards as in poker.
