Summary

Most of Stephanie's clients have the things she dreams of and that she believes will make her happy such as a house with a yard and a real couch with a matching love seat. And yet, despite having these things, her clients "did not seem to enjoy life any more than [she] did" (Loc 1955). Stephanie is still working hard with no sick days, no foreseeable increase in wages, and little money even for necessities. The reliability of her car is essential since even a flat tire could cause her to miss work and lose money. In Chapter 15, Stephanie writes about more of the houses she cleans.
