Summary
Covered Ground
In order to see her Alamo, Smith got a ride with a friend working on the renovation. She remembered her son at three years old once saying that thinking is like writing, only in your head. Smith was happy to see the slow progress on the house and dipped her toes in the ocean. She thought of inscribing the history of ‘Ino and the boardwalk in tiny writing on a coffee cup. Smith remembers that Fred was once given a service similar to a mariner’s, and she sang Wonderful World for him. She was hit heavily by her brother’s death, which came soon after Fred’s, but after some time found her brother’s optimism in her own character.
