Summary

In Chapter Five, Edie wakes up to a text from Eric. He says he is coming home from his work conference in four days. He wants to see her because he has a surprise for her. She knows that Rebecca does not want her seeing Eric, but she is not certain what she is going to do.

Akila comes into Edie’s room and asks her if she is her father’s girlfriend. Edie says yes. She is annoyed with the girl at the same time she feels sorry for her. Edie wakes up and showers, then goes into the living room where Rebecca is working out. Rebecca is impossible for Edie to read. She seems angry with Edie, but she does not tell her to leave.
