Summary
In Chapter Three, Edie thinks back to her junior year in high school when she lived in Latham. Her mother died and, five months later, her father began dating someone new. Edie started working at a clothing store in a mall that only had four open stores. She started dating the older man, Clay, who owned the gun store at the mall. One day, he gave her a hunting knife. She went home and watched porn with the knife, then took the bus to his house and lost her virginity. She continued to have sex with Clay until she got pregnant. She told her father, who took her to the clinic and then went out with his girlfriend. She went through her mother’s room and listened to her old Donna Summer records.
