Summary

In Book 1, Chapter 14, after Sebastian leaves Chicago to perform on the east coast, Lucy receives a letter from Harry Gordon. In the letter, Harry states that he will be staying in Chicago for a week to visit Lucy; he reminds her that she promised to attend the opera with him. Lucy is dismayed, as she does not wish to be reminded of Haverford. Harry arrives and is very excited to see Lucy. Lucy is somewhat excited to see him again, but she does not enjoy the conceited element of Harry’s nature. In Chapter 15, over the course of the week, Lucy and Harry attend various operas together, despite the fact that Harry does not appreciate art nearly as much as Lucy does.
