Summary
In Book One, Chapter 1, Lucy was surprised by the pandemic. However, her first husband William “saw it coming” (3). They were married for 20 years and divorced for 20. When the virus emerged, William insisted Lucy leave New York and come with him to Maine. William had recently discovered he had a half-sister, Lois, living in Maine. Lucy and William had tried meeting her, but Lois would not see William. Shortly after Lucy’s second husband David died, they went to Grand Cayman together.
Before the pandemic, Lucy canceled her book tour because of a bad feeling. In March, William urged their daughters Chrissy and Becka to leave the city. Chrissy and her husband Michael went “to Connecticut” (6). Becka and her husband Trey stayed in the city.
